About Honey

Our Local Honey
Squeak Creek Honey
manages 400 to 600 beehives each year to produce the honey we package and distribute. In October, we gather the hives, and in November, we transport them to South Carolina via semitruck. We then spread the hives out into about six apiaries of up to 100 hives per yard on average. They are there for six months because the South Carolina winters are milder, and the spring comes earlier. This allows us to produce more colonies for pollination and honey production purposes.
Harvesting Honey
In August, September, and October we take honey from the hives and package it, making sure that enough honey is left for the bees to consume over the next six months. We take honeycombs to an extracting plant where the local honey is spun from the comb. This raw honey is then strained and packaged to sell to wholesale and retail customers.
